Improvement procurement logistics organization in supply chain management under conditions of COVID-19

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to determine the impact of COVID-19 on the enterprises procurement activities and stability of supply chains, provide appropriate recommendations for improving procurement under such conditions, according to the results of the study.

The article scientific novelty is to substantiate in the conditions of COVID-19 possibilities of wider use of e-procurement system, which allows to make a more efficient search of suppliers and in such way ensures the stability of supply chains; the influence of COVID-19 on changes in the function of employees' work was determined, which led to the active digitalization of document circulation and digital activity of enterprises in general and affected the functioning of supply chains.

The theoretical and methodological basis of the research is the conceptual principles of management and the theory of logistics. The method of comparative analysis, synthesis and generalization was used to determine the status of purchases under conditions of COVID-19 and the method of the system and process approach was used to justify the actual tools for ensuring the effectiveness of procurement logistics under modern conditions.

Conclusions. COVID-19 caused a crisis around the world and affected the stability of supply chains, there were disruptions in the functioning of global procurement.

Enterprises faced with the problem of insufficient number of necessary parts and raw materials for further production, which posed new challenges for procurement logistics.

COVID-19 also affected on food production and supply, but private enterprises and retailers began to use the e-procurement system more widely, which increased the efficiency of procurement logistics under such conditions.

In addition to the much wider use of e-procurement, electronic document management has become widespread, one of the reasons for which was the transformation of the function of employees due to the influence of COVID-19, as most employees were forced to work remotely.

Thus, digital technologies and constant innovations affect on the stability of the supply chain and the efficient functioning of procurement logistics in such unforeseen situations like COVID-19.
