Benchmarking as a method for improving competitiveness of agrarian enterprises: practical application experience

Abstract

The article explores the practical experience of using benchmarking as a method of scientific research in order to increase the competitiveness of agricultural enterprises.
The purpose of the article is to investigate the role and impact of benchmarking in modern research methods and its practical application in the development of agrarian production, by improving the competitiveness of agriculture.
Scientific novelty. Practical experience of applying benchmarking in the development of the agrarian sector of the economy is introduced in order to increase the competitiveness of agriculture. The basic economic indicators of a really functioning economy are calculated, which can be used to compare for other business entities in the industry.
Conclusions. Thus, the arguments presented in their logical sequence actualize and objectify the problem of using benchmarking in the activities of agricultural enterprises of Ukraine in different sizes: from small farms, 30-300 ha in size, to huge agroholdings that have dozens, and even and hundreds of thousands of acres of land.
According to the analysis of the activity of an agricultural enterprise, it can be concluded that, first of all, it is necessary to reduce the cost of livestock production, because the stock of rising prices for livestock products is rather insignificant compared to prices on the world market. Another important element in livestock development is government support for meat and milk producers, which is implemented in all developed countries, differing only in form and content.
Therefore, Ukrainian agricultural enterprises should be able to get new ideas for improving and developing their business, to exchange experience with foreign colleagues, to identify their weaknesses and strengths (in comparison with others), to know how effective and competitive individual technologies are, what are the prospects for development of this or that industry.
